Although a bridal hair and makeup trial is not mandatory, I highly suggest incorporating this pre-wedding day service into your schedule 2-3 months prior to your big day. It's the one appointment where we get to experiment, refine, and make sure you feel completely confident before your wedding morning. Here's exactly what to expect when you book yours with me.

What Is a Bridal Trial?

A trial is a full run-through of your wedding day hair and makeup look. We treat it like the real thing — same products, same techniques, same timing awareness — so there are no surprises when you're in the chair on the morning of your wedding. Most trials take about two to two-and-a-half hours depending on whether we're doing hair, makeup, or both.

When to Book

I recommend booking your trial 2–3 months before your wedding. This gives you enough time to adjust if you want to try a different direction, while still being close enough that your hair length and colour will be similar to wedding day. If you're getting extensions, book those first and schedule the trial once they're settled in.

What to Bring

Come with clean, dry hair and a clean face — no heavy products or makeup. Bring your veil or hair accessory, any extensions you plan to wear, and inspiration photos (a small curated collection is better than a hundred pins). If you have a specific lipstick or foundation you love, bring those too. And wear a top with a similar neckline to your dress so we can see how everything frames your face.

What Happens During the Appointment

We'll start by talking through your vision — your dress, your venue, your overall vibe. I'll assess your hair texture, skin tone, and features, then we get to work. I typically start with makeup so you can see your face come together, then move into hair. Throughout the process I'll check in with you, explain what I'm doing, and make adjustments based on your feedback.

How to Give Feedback

This is your look — please be honest. If something isn't feeling right, say so. "I love the eyes but want softer brows" or "Can we try the updo a little lower?" are exactly the conversations we should have. There's no wrong answer, and I'd rather tweak now than on your wedding morning.

Tips for After

Take photos in different lighting — natural window light, flash, and dim evening light if you can. Live with the look for a few hours and notice how it looks and feels. I am very open to your honest feedback, especially if there is anything you would like me to do differently come the wedding day.
